On March 17th, our Family and Consumer Science students walked into a chaotic scene! A mischievous leprechaun had completely trashed our kitchen space.
But instead of cleaning up, our students stepped into their roles as elite CSI investigators. Their mission? Scour the kitchen for "clues"—aka hidden safety violations—identify the causes, and determine how to prevent these culinary crimes in the future.
The investigation was a huge success, and the team earned a sweet reward: homemade Shamrock Shakes!

Starting small with big goals! Our Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) students began their culinary journey this week by perfecting their knife skills using playdough. It’s not just about cooking; it's about building safety and precision from the very first cut.
Students worked diligently on precision, learning that consistency in their cuts is key to even cooking and great-looking dishes by making french fries.
The sweetest sound in the kitchen? "YUM!" Our students brought it all together today, turning their practice into performance with these incredible jalapeño poppers. They did the prep, they did the cooking, and they earned the taste test. So proud!

It’s National School Resource Officer Day, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own Deputy John Neumann from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Neumann is a staple in our halls, and we’re lucky to have an SRO who handles everything with a smile (and the occasional snack). Whether he’s keeping us safe or just being part of the team, he makes our school a better place. And even stops by on teacher work days with his dog, Bruno to say hi.

To round out National School Counselor Week, we’re shining a massive spotlight on the heart and soul of our support system: Jeri, RA’s one-and-only school counselor!
Thank you, Jeri, for showing up every day with patience, understanding, and a whole lot of heart. You meet our students exactly where they are, listen without judgment, and open doors that once felt closed.
A Nevada native (born near the Hoover Dam!), Jeri traded the desert heat for Virginia’s "cold, snow, and ice" in 1996. After choosing Psychology over law school, Jeri built an incredible career working with brain injury survivors, in substance abuse counseling, and as a crisis counselor. Since 2006, she’s been a staple in RCPS, joining RA because she loves working with students who don't "fit the mold."
Jeri believes it takes a village, and we are so lucky she’s a part of ours. Thank you for making a difference in these lives every single day!
