I have some new information below regarding Tuesday, October 31 as well as several important reminders.
SRES will allow students, again this year, to dress up on Tuesday, October 31. It is your discretion as parent/family to permit your child to do so. We do want to offer families some reminders for this event. First, student dress must adhere to the RCPS dress code policy. Therefore, no mask, no headgear, and no dress depicting violence. We ask, too, that you do not wear face paint and that you do not bring accessories to school. Students should dress in a tasteful manner, and dress should not interfere with instruction. Lastly, if in doubt about a costume, feel free to consult with your child's teacher.
Friday, October 20: is the deadline for permission to attend the Unity Day field trip (October Character Counts students only) and Take Your Child to Work. Please make sure you turn in the form(s), if you desire for your child to participate. Late permissions will not be accepted. Thank you for your cooperation!
From the SCA:
Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This year the South River Elementary SCA is going to lead our school in the challenge, issued by SoulPancake and Kid President, to help donate socks to our local homeless shelter to show that even small acts of love and kindness can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. We will be collecting NEW socks in our classrooms all throughout the month of October. At the end of the month we will count up the socks and take them to the Valley Mission in Staunton, Va. The homeroom class with the most socks donated will enjoy a Chick-fil-a Party!
Please join the cause and help keep the Valley warm this Fall and Winter.
